Coffs Coast Computers is a locally owned and operated family business that has been serving the Coffs Coast since 1995. The company was founded by John & Maree Hood and originated under the trading name John Hood Electronic Services. In 2002 the company moved to new premises in Mildura Street Coffs Harbour where it took on the new name of Coffs Coast Computers. With continued growth another change in premises was necessary. In June 2006 Coffs Coast Computers acquired BMD Computers, combined the two businesses and commenced trading from the newly refurbished BMD Computers premises at 175 Orlando Street, Coffs Harbour. The business trades under the name Coffs Coast Computers, with sons Matthew & Peter also working within the company.

John Hood - Managing Director
John is the founder of Coffs Coast Computers (formally John Hood Electronic Services) and has been with the company since it’s inception in 1994. John’s experience in the computer industry started in 1976, when he worked on a mainframe system at a major water purification plant that serviced a large portion of the city of Melbourne, Victoria. While working full time at the purification plant, John continued his studies in the evenings and gained a Certificate of Technology. For the next 11 years, John continued working in the business equipment field focusing on computers, phones systems, data cabling and cash register systems. He worked for Peats Office Equipment in Echuca, Victoria for 7 years and after moving his family to Coffs Harbour, worked for Coffs Harbour Office Supplies. In 1994, John pursued his dream of opening his own business and founded Coffs Coast Computers. With his wealth of knowledge and experience backed by a reputation for honesty and integrity, the business flourished from an early stage. John has over 30 years experience in the industry and has continually attended training courses during this time, to keep abreast of new technologies. John’s main focus at Coffs Coast Computers is the day-to-day managing of the business, as well as hands-on work in cash register & telephone systems and data cabling.

Peter Hood - B. Info Tech, MCSE, MCSA, MCP, CompTIA A+ - Network Consultant
Peter has been involved in the IT industry since leaving high school. On the strength of his results in the higher school certificate, Peter gained a scholarship to study locally at Southern Cross University and commenced part time work at Coffs Coast Computers while undertaking his Bachelor of Information Technology. Upon completing his degree, Peter chose to remain in the family business and is our highest qualified staff member. Peter has continued his studies and has completed all requirements to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. In 2006, he completed all requirements for Coffs Coast Computers to be certified as a Microsoft Small Business Specialist. Peter’s main focus is designing, deploying and maintaining small to medium sized networks utilising Microsoft Server technologies.

Brian Townley - MCSE, MCSA, MCP, CompTIA Network+ - Network Consultant
Brian joined Coffs Coast Computers in 2008 and has 10 years experience in the IT industry providing solutions to small and medium business clients, with a focus on Microsoft technologies. Brian is a Microsoft Certified System Engineer and also holds a CompTIA Network+ certification and is a welcome addition to the Coffs Coast Computers team.

Alan Norris - MCP, GFI Certified - Network Consultant
Alan is the latest addition to the Coffs Coast Computers team and has a solid background in IT sales & support running his own IT company in England for a decade before coming to Australia.

Michael Del Olmo - MCP - Technician
Michael joined Coffs Coast Computers in 2004 having moved to the area from Sydney with various Microsoft and Novell qualifications. Michael covers all areas of Computer repairs and performs the majority of our 3rd party warranty work. This sees him covering an area from South West Rocks in the south to Yamba in the north. Michael is a Microsoft Certified Professional.

Matthew Hood - Telecommunications Technician & Licensed Data Cabler
Matthew has returned to Coffs Coast Computers in February 2009 after 12 months working in Brisbane for Communication Networks Australia, where he gained valuable experience in large scale telecommunication installations and complex data networks incorporating copper & optical fibre cabling. Matthew has attended numerous training courses to develop his knowledge & skills including Austel License, Structured cabling certification and specialist training in LG Nortel and Panasonic PABX telephone systems. Matthew specialises in telecommunications cabling, CAT5e, CAT6+ & Optical fibre data network installations, as well as PABX Phone systems & Point of Sales.

Jasmine Glading - Sales/Network Co-ordinator
Jasmine was originally employed by BMD Computers, and remained on staff when Coffs Coast Computers acquired this company. Jasmine has completed certificates 3 & 4 in Business Administration and is a highly motivated employee. Jasmine is co-ordinator for our networking department as well as handling sales enquires.

Janene Lord - Administration Manager
Janene has been with the company since 1996. Janene is a very competent employee and her expertise as head of the administration department is an asset to Coffs Coast Computers.

Christine Anderson - Administration
Christine joined Coffs Coast Computers in 2004. Christine works in reception where her kind and friendly nature makes her popular with customers. Christine also assists Janene in administration.

Julie McGuigan - Receptionist
Julie has joined our team as receptionist. Coming from previous IT related employment Julie is well suited to answer the needs of our customers.

Alistair McDonald - IT Consultant
Alistair joined Coffs Coast Computers in 2009, and has been a welcome addition to the team. Alistair is currently our Help Desk Manager, providing timely and quality support for all of our clients on Managed Services IT Support Agreements.
